Braggville: Portrait of a Community's Past

on 8/23/2011

Ken Lefebvre,Jr.,  an alumnus of the Holliston High School Class of 2009, recently wrote a fascinating series of articles about Braggville for the Holliston Reporter. Ken used the Society's library for some of his research and for the photos that accompany both parts of the article. He singled out librarian Hester Chesmore for special thanks for her help.

HHS in the news - John Fogerty video shot here

on 8/3/2011

Our barn is a rock star!

Holliston Patch
recently ran an article about the time our barn was the setting for a rock video.  John Fogerty recorded the video of “Blue Boy”, a song from his 1997 Grammy-winning album, "Blue Moon Swamp," in and around our barn.

The video itself is now a glimpse back at the 1990’s. Watching it, you’ll notice how fashion (the hairstyles!) and technology (see the phone at :47) were a lot different then. But some classics like t-shirts and jeans never go out of style.

2011 Father's Day Breakfast & Car Cruise

on 7/7/2011

Members of the Historical Society played host to 115 classic cars that came to the Ninth Annual Breakfast Cruise. Perfect weather and some of the finest cars in the area made for another great event on the Historical Society grounds.

This 1928 Isotta Frachini is a custom ordered car from Milan Italy (note right wheel drive).  The chassis and the straight 8 engine are included in the special order, and the body and interior is another special order. The body of this car came from Labarron Body in Pennsylvania. This car is comparable to a Rolls Royce or Ferrari.

April 28, 2011 - Mapping Holliston’s Old Cemeteries

on 3/25/2011

Cemeteries are a link to our past, a memorial to those who shaped our towns. On Thursday, April 28th 7:30 PM, Paul LeBeau presents Mapping Holliston's Old Cemeteries at Holliston Historical Society at 547 Washington Street. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served following the program.

LeBeau's interest in genealogy and an awareness of the frustration felt by his dad on searching for gravestones of ancestors in various New Hampshire cemeteries led LeBeau to embark on a project that would make things easier for folks searching for specific gravestones in Holliston.
