President's Message

Welcome to the Holliston Historical Society! I'm Dan Mades, newly drafted President. I am the grandson of Frank Rees and Dorothy Rees (past president 1967-1969). Since 1959, Holliston has been my second home. In 1994, we bought the old house (circa 1757) on Norfolk Street from my grandmother.

In 2007, I retired from the US Coast Guard after 26 years of service and together with my wife and 3 children, moved home to Holliston. I now work as a Maritime Analyst for Serco North America. Over the years, my grandmother often drafted me into service to help with various Historical Society chores and functions when I was visiting Holliston. The first was a July 4th parade when I was small, where my grandmother dressed me up in woolen period clothing. I remember being quite uncomfortable in the summer heat in those itchy clothes! Under the leadership of immediate past president Frank Melle, I expect 2010 to be a banner year for the Society and the Town.

Check the calendar for our upcoming events.

I am honored to serve as President of the Holliston Historical Society during this Centennial Celebration!

Daniel Mades
