Collections

The Society's collection contains artifacts and memorabilia connected with the history of Holliston and its people. We have original and reproduction period clothing and a collection of flags and quilts. We also have tools and materials from the straw hat, shoe, and boot industries.

Donations to the collection are always welcome. If you have any interesting Holliston artifacts, please contact us.

Education

Each year since 1972, the Society has hosted Education Week, also known as 18th Century Days, for Holliston's third graders. More than three hundred children spend a day in the spring at the Asa Whiting House. Society members and HEPO volunteers teach them traditional crafts and skills such as open hearth cooking, candle-making, ironwork, cross-stitch, and stenciling.

In addition to Education Week, the Society sponsors an annual Antique and Craft Fair and a lecture series which brings historians from the surrounding area to Holliston to speak on a wide range of topics from Holliston in the Civil War and Civil War medicine, to the history of women in Holliston, to baseball in Holliston, and historic ironwork and wallpapers.

Library

The Library is open every second Sunday of the month 2-4 pm from September through May or by appointment. During the summer, the Library is only open by appointment. The Library contains material about Holliston, surrounding towns and New England. The library has books, old newspapers, news clippings, pictures, private papers, old maps, street directories and vital records. It also has many genealogy records for local families. If you have any questions, please email the librarian.
